He arrived in the United States in 1970, where he attended the Art Centre College of Design, and California State University of Los Angeles, achieving B.A. and M.A. degrees in Fine Art. In 1977 he studied painting on a scholarship to the Sergei Bongart School of Art in Los Angeles. He later worked as Mr. Bongart's assistant at the school, and also at his annual summer workshops in Idaho. Sunny lived and worked in Dublin in the late 1980's. During that time he staged successful sell-out exhibitions at the Solomon Gallery, the Polo-One, and at the National Portrait Exhibition. On his return to the United States he exhibited at many of California's leading galleries. Sunny is a Signature member of California Art Club and also a member of Oil Painters of America. John O'Flynn is a Cork born artist and architect living in Dublin for the last 25 years. After winning many Texaco Children's Art Competition awards during his school years he went on to study architecture (UCD & London Southbank), Fine Art (Crawford, Cork) and Illustration (Harrow, UK). He has worked in commercial illustration, architectural practice and architectural illustration as well selling paintings. He is a member of the RIAI, the Dublin Painting & Sketching Club, and the RHA's Life Room Group. His work is characterised by strong draughtsmanship, careful composition, a strong but realistic colour palette and descriptive brushwork. His favoured media are oils, watercolour and pen & ink for sketching and for illustration. Most, if not all, his landscape work is executed en plein air with only very minor adjustment to details afterwards. His is drawn to boats lying on mud at low tide, landscapes with an architectural element and dramatically sunlit scenes.
