  • Formerly in the collection of the Dublin educationalist and talented amateur artist, Thomas Urry Young, who exhibited more than seventy works at the RHA and the Dublin Sketching Club from addresses in Terenure, Rathmines and the National Education Office in Marlborough Street. Interestingly, in the same year that he loaned Alexander Williams’ Sunset to the Dublin Sketching Club, a painting by Young of the same title was loaned by a Mr T. S. Pearsall.

  • Lakefield was formerly the hunting lodge of the McGillicuddy family and is now a privately owned guest-house on the shores of Lough Caragh, near Killorglin in Co. Kerry. A medical doctor by profession and one time President of the Royal College of Surgeons (1958-1960), Wilson was also an accomplished yachtsman, author and illustrator. He studied at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art and in the studio of his friend, James Sinton Sleator. Between 1930-1969 he showed nearly 50 works at the RHA and was made an Honorary Member.
