It is also a study for a 1925 oil painting, which is illustrated on p. 98 of Bruce Arnold’s, Mainie Jellett and the Modern Movement in Ireland , Yale University Press, New Haven and London, 1991, plate 136.

The couple are now in the process of building an artists’ retreat in the Pyrenees and hope to help finance the project with the proceeds of sale.

In the late 1970s he travelled to north America and from there to Mexico, Austria, France, Portugal and Ireland. Locally, he has had several exhibitions with Jorgenson Fine Art, whilst in London he has shown with the Albemarle Gallery. His work is in numerous collections including the Museum of Russian Art in New Jersey.

  • Maquette for a memorial designed for the Republican plot at Miltown Cemetry, Belfast. This was the last major commission that Yann Goulet worked on and it was never realised due to illness. In design it relates closely to his bronze Guerilla Fighter, exhibited at the RHA in 1984 and illustrated in the catalogue to that show. Guerilla Fighter may in turn relate to a much earlier work of the same title, shown in Goulet’s first one-man show in Ireland at Brown Thomas’ Little Theatre in 1957.
