WINTERING OUT
WINTERING OUT
Seamus (b. 1939) Heaney

  • Medium: Faber and Faber, 1972, London, pp.80
  • The true first edition, preceding the hardcover edition this trademark paper back displays original blue grey and white wrappers. Wintering Out marks Heaney's departure from earlier themes of nature towards the more ambitions and darker subject of maturity. The strength of this book comes from the poet’s clear gravitation towards the more complex grim aspect of an artist's struggle -that of isolation, suffering and despair. This pivotal work in Heaney's oeuvre is a most desirable collector's item.
