  • This still life is characteristic of Moyra Barry's later works. In 1948 Red Roses were the subject of her submission to the RHA [catalogue no. 106]. At this time, her address was care of The Victor Waddington Galleries, 28 South Anne Street, Dublin. In 1956 Waddington hosted an exhibition entitled, 'Thirty Years', 9 - 25 February in which Barry submitted a similar work, Roses (no. 18).

  • Stuart Morle was born in Liverpool and studied Fine Art at the Central School of Art and Design in London from 1979 to 1982. He won an Italian Government scholarship in 1982 and went to live in Siena that year. He established himself as a portrait painter and worked for both British and Italian clients. Commissions have included HRH The Princess Royal for the Field Auxiliary Nursing Yeomanry , Howard Kilroy, Chairman of the Board of Governors of The Bank of Ireland and Desmond O’Malley, former Cabinet Minister and leader of the Progressive Democrats. Stuart Morle has lived and worked in Dublin for the past eleven years, with periodic working visits to Italy and Portugal.

  • Muriel Brandt's daughter Ruth (1936-1989) was the subject of numerous portraits by the artist, two of which were exhibited in the RHA and one at the IELA (1944, no. 122). This work was exhibited at the RHA first in 1940 and the second nine years later when Ruth was thirteen (RHA, 1949, catalogue no. 181. Ruth Brandt later became an illustrator and etcher exhibiting with the Watercolour Society from 1984 to 1988. An exhibition of her works was held posthumously by the society in 1990.

  • Dublin born Byrne is a self-taught painter. During his formative years, Byrne rigorously applied himself to the arts and subsequently travelled around the world painting while supplementing his income working as an electrician. In 1989, upon his return to Dublin, Byrne embarked on a career as a full-time painter, working predominantly in oil and taking inspiration from a wide variety of subject matter. Light is of central importance to the artist, whose canvases radiate with colour and movement. Byrne is also renowned for his interpretation of the picturesque south Dublin suburbs of Sandymount, Dalkey and Killiney.

  • Born in Belfast in 1925, James Bingham was a recognised Belfast based artist who spent his early years in London working as a sign writer with his brother. In 1967 on his return home he met fellow Belfast artist Daniel O'Neill. They became friends and from 1968 he worked with O'Neill in his studio until O'Neill's death in 1974. Over the years his work went from strength to strength as he refined his unique artistic genius into paintings full of joy, narrative sophistication and original colour palette.

    Ross Eccles was born in Lancashire in 1937. He studied Architecture at the Birmingham School of Architecture and practiced as an architect for 30 years before retiring in 1991 in order to devote himself full time to art.

    His early work was influenced by his architectural training but he soon developed a distinct, colourful, abstract style that reveals the his own philosophy and vision. Eccles’ style is flux continuously evolving. Elements of several artistic movements can be found in his work with particular artist’s, such as Picasso and Pollock having a profound influence on his methods of painting and outlook as an artist.
