Elizabeth Corbet Yeats, known as Lolly, was the daughter of artist John Butler Yeats, sister to Jack and William Butler Yeats, artist and writer respectively, and a co-founder of the Cuala Press. Lolly Yeats offered children’s art classes; this book reveals the techniques she taught children so that they might faithfully and simply paint from nature. A beautiful and quite rare collector’s item.

Many of the 600 copies of this book have subsequently been broken up for the prints which were then sold individually. Other editions remain in public and special collections, thus 'Vanishing Dublin' is a highly rare and desirable collectors item.

  • Views depicted include; Trinity College, The Four Courts Dublin, The Custom House and The Rotunda Hospital. A view of the latter can be found in the collection of the Dublin City Gallery, The Hugh Lane. All works are framed and mounted uniformly. (4 works total). Kenneth Steel was a painter in watercolour, engraver and lithographer and a poster designer. Born in Sheffield in 1906, his father was G.T Steel an artist and silver engraver. Kenneth Steel studied at Sheffield College of Art under Anthony Betts. He is represented in several public collections. Steel achieved a prolific output of artwork for the UK railways, producing posters. He was based in Crookes, Sheffield for the majority of his career.

  • Out of Bedlam, Dolmen Press, Glenageary, County Dublin, finished June 1956. Beautifully crafted publication printed on Irish paper with texts set in Caslon type. Limited to 250 copies of which 200 were for sale; the first twenty-five were retained for the author. This is no. 195 from the edition. Contains twenty-seven of River's superb wood engravings. Hand-stitched at spine with decorated upper and titled spine. With original pictorial wrappers. This was the only edition published. Also with this lot, Apple & Angels: Pages from an artist's notebook with twenty-one etchings by Patrick Pye. Veritas Publications, Dublin, 1980 (no. 729 from an edition of 750); signed and numbered on the back page. Dimensions, 12 by 8.25in; hardback with stamped upper and titled spine on black linen. New impression 1948 printed in Éire by The Kerryman Ltd., Tralee. Dust jacket, title page and each opening chapter decorated with coloured line-drawings by le Brocquy. In original blue boards with titled upper and spine and original decorated dust jacket. Original vinyl and record sleeve for The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Mackem, The rising of the moon, Irish songs of Rebellion. Sung by Tommy Makem, Liam Clancy, Patrick Clancy and Tom Clancy. Recorded by David Hancock. Edited by Kenneth S. Goldstein. Jacket Design by Louis le Brocquy. It was initially recorded in 1956. In 1959, the musicians re-recorded the album. This time they brought in backup musicians on guitar and harp and Tommy Makem provided whistle and drums. It was reissued in 1998 for the celebrations of the Irish Rebellion of 1798.
