Also with a silk handkerchief embroidered with a crest of the Royal Irish Rifles and an Irish Rifles cap badge of modern production. (3 items)Edward James Kennedy Cordner was born on the Isle of Wight, the son of a Major General in the Bengal Artillery. He served with the 5th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles reaching the rank of Captain and also worked as Assistant District Commissioner in Nigeria until 1907. On retirement he returned to his place of birth where he died in December 1937.

  • Silver presentation goblet hallmarked London 1905. Inscribed "Militia Rifle Association Revolver Cup 1905, won by Col. Sir W. H. Mahon, Bart D.S.O., 4th Bn. West Yorkshire Regiment". Colonel Sir William Henry Mahon of Castlegar Co. Galway, was born in 1856 and served during the Boer War where he was awarded the Distinguished Service Order while commanding the 4th West Yorkshire Regiment. He was also Deputy Lieutenant for County Galway and died in 1926. The diaries and papers of W. H. Mahon are held by the National Library of Ireland (9oz)

  • A unique and beautifully produced large wooden letter and bill holder. With 24 compartments surmounted by an engraved Antrim Artillery crest with shamrock, thistle, roses and cannons either side and the monograms EP and AA. A small plaque placed between the crest and compartments bears the inscription "Presented by Colonel Pottinger 1895".Colonel Eldred T. Pottinger CMG had a distinguished career with the Royal Artillery and was a well known Irish gentleman. After his retirement from the Royal Artillery he lived in Portrush, was captain of Royal Portrush Golf Club and also commanded the Antrim Artillery . He died in 1905.

Ernest St. Clair Robinson served with the South African Constabulary during the Boer War and Army Service Corps during the First World War. He does not appear to have been mentioned in dispatches despite the presence of an oakleaf on Victory Medal.
