  • A collection of twelve handwritten letters by Maud-Gonne MacBride to Vincent Crompton, together with two letters on Clann na Poblachta letterhead, a reference etc.Vincent Crompton, aged 36, and Jean Dobson, aged 19, occupied a Bonnie and Clyde status in the Liverpool IRA in the late 1930s. They led a cell of young activists and were arrested following a series of bombings in August 1939. Crompton was imprisoned and returned to Ireland on his release. The correspondence relates to his attempt to build a new life in Dublin in the late 1940s.
