  • The aircraft was piloted by Lieutenant W. Munchmeyer, escorting light bombers en route to Southampton. Munchmeyer's flight was attacked by a Hurricane flown by Sgt. L. N. Guy from 601 Squadron, RAF. Guy severly damaged the Bf-110C, which dived away from the fighting somewhere in the vicinity of Winchester and crashed near the small town of North Badesley. Munchmeyer survived, his gunner was killed. Initiated by Hermann Göring, Adlertag!" -- "Eagle Day" was planned as a day of massive flights of Luftwaffe aircraft that would eliminate the British air force."Five aluminium fragments, mounted and framed.
