Edith Oenone Somerville

Edith Somerville was an Irish novelist, illustrator and painter. She wrote in collaboration with her cousin Violet Martin pseudonymously as "Somerville and Ross", having 14 works published. Somerville studied art at Académie Délécluse and Colarossi in Paris and at the Westminster School of Art. whytes.ie Somerville went to paint at the Etaples art colony, in 1898, accompanied by Violet Martin. There they also conceived of the stories that became Some Experiences of an Irish R. M., completed the following year. She exhibited her pictures in Dublin and in London between 1920 and 1938, and an illustrator of sporting picture books and children's picture books.
