Jean Aubery
Jean Aubéry was a French artist born in 1880 in the region of Provence. He entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Marseille and later became the pupil of prominent academicist artist and professor Jean-Léon Gérôme while studying at the Beaux-Arts of Paris. Known for his love of Provence and its surroundings, Aubéry’s paintings depicted in a post-impressionist influence the scenic villages and landscapes of southern France. In 1904, he became laureate for the Chenavard prize and exhibited continuously in the Parisian salons where he won several medals. His works are included in various public and private collections, most notably in the Musée des beaux-arts de Marseille. (whytes.ie)
