Philip Blythe
Irish born book illustrator Philip Blythe settled in Queensland in 1998 after travelling the state as the staff artist on British-based operation Raleigh's Queensland Quest expedition. His work as illustrator to Pole to Pole (by Pamela Freeman, 2001) was shortlisted for the Children's Book Council of Australia's Book of the Year award. When in receipt of a bursary from the Tyrone Guthrie centre at Annamakerrig it is traditional to gift a work to the centre. This is a preliminary work towards the final piece given by the artist during his stay there.
