Whyte’s Important Irish Art sale on 1 December demonstrated a continuing strong demand for art of quality. The top hammer price of €235,000 (€292,810 including Buyers Premium and VAT) was for Paul Henry RHA (1876-1958) The Great Sugar Loaf, County Wicklow, c.1929-30, with a presale estimate of €100,000 to €150,000. Other notable results were John Luke RUA (1906-1975) Shaw's Bridge, Belfast, 1933 at €48,000, Frank McKelvey RHA RUA (1895-1974) Woman Feeding Hens, 1921 at €30,000, and Rowan Gillespie (b.1953) Imagine [The Frailest Reed], 2006.
