Whytes Irish & International Art sale on 9 March demonstrated a continuing strong demand for art of quality. The top hammer price of 245,000 (305,270 including Buyers Premium and VAT) was for Roderic O'Conor's LE LOING AT SUNDOWN, c.1902, with a presale estimate of 150,000 to 200,000.
Other notable results include:
-David Hockney RA (b.1937) POOL MADE WITH PAPER AND BLUE INK FOR BOOK, 1980 selling at 38,000 (Est. 25,000-35,000)
-Sir John Lavery, artist's proof lithographs of MICHAEL COLLINS and ARTHUR GRIFFITH, 1921 realised 16,000 (Est. 8,000-10,000)
-Liam O'Neill (b.1954) A PINT OF PLAIN sold for 10,500 (Est. 5,000-7,000)
-Laurence Stephen Lowry signed lithograph THE CART, 1959 sold for 8,000 (Est. 4,000-6,000)
-Stuart Morle's oil on canvas IN THE GARDENS OF ALHAMBRA, 2025 selling at 3,600 (Est. 1,000-1,500)
