CHRISTMAS SALE OF ART & COLLECTIBLES
Looking for inspiration this Christmas? Why not
decorate that home office? Whyte’s online only auction on 13 December will
offer shoppers a chance to acquire something of lasting value for their walls,
tables or Christmas stockings this festive season. From artworks to silver, sculpture
and wine, Whyte’s have Christmas wrapped up!



From stunning contemporary
paintings and prints by well-known Irish names such as Louis le Brocquy,
Patrick Scott, Graham Knuttel, Arthur Maderson, John Kingerlee, Markey Robinson,
Gladys Maccabe, and John Skelton to Harry Kernoff, Daniel O’Neill,
Gerard Dillon and Patrick Leonard there is something to suit all tastes, budgets
and wall sizes. For fans of the Chieftans there is a charming sculpture
of Paddy Moloney by Edward Delaney, illustrated above [lot 1, €5,000-€7,000]. Delaney
designed several of The Chieftains' album covers and was a personal friend of
Moloney.
A strong offering of traditional landscape paintings by Anne Primrose Jury, Maurice
Wilks, Charles McAuley, and Rowland Hill as well as Alan Kenny
and Frank Eggington among others are included (from €400 to €2,000). Prints
from Paul Henry and Jack Butler Yeats will satisfy those who
cannot stretch to an original. A quirky set of ceramic bowls by John ffrench
(Arklow pottery) and delightful candlestick holders by Oisin Kelly guide
from €500-€2,000, illustrated above.
ECLECTIC GIFTS



A small but valuable range of fine wines are included in this festive sale. These include seven bottles of the famed Petrus Pomerol, - the billionaire’s favourite - individually estimated at €1,000 (about a third of the price in a triple Michelin starred restaurant) [lots 265-272 (lot]. Wines for lesser gods include some fine Pauillaic, Margaux and St. Julien, estimated from €100 to €300 a bottle. And what better to finish off your Christmas dinner than a case of six bottles of Bushmills 25 year old Millennium single malt [lots 260, illustrated above and 261] at €1,800 to €2,000. Collectibles include a silver coffee set [lot 258] at €1,000 to €1,500, and a handsome handmade rocking horse by Stevenson Brothers (illustrated above), as supplied to royalty and celebritiesworlwide at €2,000 to €3,000.
