In what was the largest auction of picture postcards ever held in Ireland, over 100,000 cards were offered by Whyte’s on 26 January. Every single lot sold, for a total of €130,000, a world record for a single owner collection of picture postcards - a "white glove sale".
The collection had been formed by the late Seamus Kearns of Dublin. Whyte's recorded record viewing and attendance with over 300 bidders competing for the 500 lots.
