Charles Ernest Cundall

Born in Stretford, Lancashire, Charles Cundall studied at the Manchester School of Art, the RCA and the Slade in London. His first one-man show was held at Colnaghi’s in 1927. After travelling widely throughout Europe, Russia and Australasia, he returned to London and was elected a member of numerous prestigious societies. He visited Ireland periodically in the 1940s, during which period he was an official War Artist with the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, and showed at the RHA in 1939 and ‘49. www.whytes.ie
