Christopher Bucklow
Born in Manchester and now based in London, Christopher Bucklow is best known for his Guest series of photographs. Each image is created by tracing the shadow of the subject (usually a friend of the artist) onto a sheet of aluminium foil, and then infilling the form with thousands of pinpricked holes. The foil sheet is then placed in front of a home-made camera lens and sunlight allowed to penetrate the holes, creating a luminous ghost-like image. Bucklow has had numerous solo exhibitions with such galleries as The Photographers Gallery in London and Tate St Ives. He is represented in public collections worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art New York, the Yale Centre for British Art in Boston and the V&A in London.
