Dame Elisabeth Frink
Elizabeth Frink was the child of military family who was 9 years old when WWII broke out, which had a profound impact on her. She studied at the Guildford School of Art, under Willi Soukop, and at the Chelsea School of Art. She was part of the Geometry of Fear school, a postwar group of British sculptors. She is best known for the distinctive worked and carved surfaces of her outdoor bronze sculptures. Frink was elected a full Academician at the Royal Academy in 1979. Frink also produced drawings and prints throughout her life. Her sculpting methodology and interest in teaching led to the opening of the Frink School of Figurative Sculpture which functioned for a decade from 1996 to 2005. Her public works can be seen across Britain. www.whytes.ie
