Francesco Clemente
Francesco Clemente is an Italian contemporary artist, who has lived in Italy, New York and India. Clemente has worked in painting, mosaic, fresco, graphics and sculpture, some of his work being influenced by Indian traditional art and religious and folk culture. He was a major figure in the Transavantguardia movement advocating a return to symbolism and figuration, rejecting formalism and conceptualism. He has exhibited in numerous high profile galleries and museums internationally, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 2004. www.whytes.ie
