Helen Comerford
Helen Comerford was born in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. Initially trained as a sculptor, she was later drawn to painting and specialized in encaustics, a medium involving heated wax and coloured pigments. Comerford was actively involved in the art sector in Ireland and worked with the Kilkenny Arts Festival, the Wexford Arts Centre and Visual Artists Ireland. She later established an art school in Ormonde College in Kilkenny. Helen Comerford is represented in various public collections such as the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Butler Gallery, and the Hugh Lane Gallery. Her work continues to be exhibited in solo and group shows in Ireland but also in the Netherlands, Germany and Greece.
