James Howard Burgess
James Howard Burgess exhibited at the RHA from 1830 until 1880, showing mostly views of the Antrim coast, particularly Carrickfergus. He contributed twenty-five illustrations to Halls Ireland, its Scenery and Character (1841) and was awarded two prizes by the Royal Irish Art Union in 1843. By 1850 he had established a painting academy in Donegall Place, Belfast.
