Nathaniel Hone
Nathaniel Hone the Elder was an Irish-born portrait and miniature painter, who was a founder member of the Royal Academy in 1768. A number of his portraits are held at the National Portrait Gallery in London. His painting The Conjurer is a favourite in the National Gallery of Ireland, though it caused controversy in 1775 as it was seen as quite a harsh satirisation of fellow RA members. www.whytes.ie
