Neil Shawcross
Neil Shawcross was born in Kearsley, Lancashire and studied at Bolton College of Art and Lancaster College of Art, before moving to Belfast in 1962 to lecture at the Belfast College of Art. He continued to lecture there until his retirement in 2004. Well known as a portraitist he also produced still lives and pop art compositions in a lose style often in contrasting colours. whytes.ie He was elected an Associate of the Royal Ulster Academy of Art and the RHA and in 2014, was awarded an MBE. SHawcross has exhibited widely on the island of Ireland. A major retrospective of Shawcross' works were exhibited at the F.E. McWilliam Gallery and Studio, Banbridge in 2018.
