Norman Garstin

Norman Garstin was an Irish artist, art critic, teacher and journalist associated with the Newlyn School. He painted plein air and was influenced by Impressionism, James McNeill Whistler and Japanese work. Garstin studied in Antwerp and Paris. He painted some of his first professional paintings while travelled around Europe. He later took students to Europe to some of his favourite places. His works are held at Penlee House, the Newlyn Gallery and the Tate. www.whytes.ie
