William Crozier
Born in Glasgow to Irish parents, William Crozier studied at the Glasgow School of Art in the early 1950s. After graduating he spent time in Dublin and Paris before settling in London. He quickly established himself and began exhibiting at the ICA, Drian and the Arthur Tooth galleries. In 1963 he travelled to Spain with Irish poet Anthony Cronin, the trip greatly influenced his work as an artist. Crozier began to teach art in the 1960s and continued to do so until the 1980s. www.whytes.ie He enjoyed a successful career as an artist, representing the United Kingdom and Ireland on numerous occasions. He was awarded Premio Lissone in Milan and the Oireachtas Gold medal for Painting in Dublin in 1994. Retrospectives of the artists work were held in the Crawford Art Gallery, Cork and the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin in 1991. He was elected to Aosdana and was also an honorary member of the RHA.
